Our Story

Riccardo and Marianne met on May 28th, 2019. The story from then on is a curious one, yet one in which all things fell into place at their appointed time.

An external observer witnessing the events of Riccardo and Marianne’s initial meeting and time together could be forgiven for thinking that there was little between these two souls to bind them together, and that the awkward, timid time they had with one another was an indication of two persons that were far too different to have a meaningful chance of success.

Yet just as a tiny seed planted in soil appears small and uninteresting, with no potential and no future, yet slowly over time it springs up with vitality and life and develops in its infinite complexity into a beautiful tree grounded in strong roots, so too was Riccardo and Marianne’s relationship planted.

The Appointed Time

Long before engagement, Riccardo and Marianne were given a date to take note of. After mentioning in passing the numbers 21, 7, and 3 as her favorite numbers on one particular video call some time in 2019, Riccardo recognized them as a date, July 3, 2021. To their surprise, this was a Saturday, a Sabbath, and they immediately knew it was something special.

That was in 2019. A lot has happened since then, in life and in the world. But that date remained a source of consideration, a frame of reference upon which Riccardo and Marianne pondered and held fast. They had faith that this date was provided for a reason, and regardless of what happened, it was the appointed time.



A Note on the Times

According to the times present on the earth, it shall unfortunately not be possible to gather in numbers on this appointed day. We will be having a small ceremony in the wilderness with a few witnesses, to the regrettable exclusion of nearly all of our family and friends, including the exclusion of all of Marianne’s family who are in Brasil.

As YAH permits, we fully intend to welcome all friends and family to a celebration at some time in the future when restrictions have passed. As well, it is also our hope to have a celebration near Marianne’s home city of Goiania, Brasil at the time that international travel becomes possible.
